"Is This a Bad Santa Rally?
Most of the 'Magnificent Seven' that have powered much of the US stock market rally actually underperformed last week. In contrast, trashier stocks and assets ripped higher. Goldman Sachs's tailored indices, which track unprofitable technology firms and the most heavily shorted stocks, have surged significantly, with increases of 8% and 12% respectively in the past week. SPACs also experienced a notable uptick, rising 3.7% last week. This increase extends their gains since October to 20%, bringing them close to recovering their losses from 2022. Meanwhile, cryptocurrencies have added approximately $500 billion in "value" since October."
